Dorsey Brothers Orch (Bob Snyder Orch) - My Dog Loves Your Dog (1934)
This 1934 recording is by the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra (recording as the Bob Snyder Orchestra) with Kay Weber on vocals. It's a fun little tune and I am a dog lover so I felt inspired to do a little something with it. I hope you enjoy the video.
Note that his tune is available for purchase on iTunes.

Annette Hanshaw - her first recording - 1926 Audition medley
Переглядів 14 тис.14 років тому
In 1926 Annette Hanshaw had an audition for Pathe records in which she created two recordings - a pair of 3 song medleys using popular tunes from 1925 and 1926. She was soon a record star and this first test recording fell into obscurity. Here is a chance to once again listen to these recordings - to hear her just before she emerged onto the public scene.

Mabel Normand as The Sweetheart of Six Other Guys

For this upload I decided to combine the audio from the fun 1928 song "The Sweetheart Of Six Other Guys" by Fred Hall and his Sugar Babies (Okeh 41026) with a handfull of public domain video clips of Mabel Normand appearing with different "sweethearts". I thought it made a good combination anyway... Here's the rundown on her seven "sweethearts": Monday: Mack Sennett Tuesday: William Jefferson W...

Here's a little video I put together to accompany the Brunswick recording "My Little Honey And Me" by Irving Mills' Hotsy-Totsy Gang. The various film clips are all taken from public domain prints of two great Buster Keaton films from 1920 - Neighbors and One Week and feature scenes involving Buster and his little honey - (played by Virginia Fox and Sybil Seely resepectively). [Note: If you've ...
Eshbaugh's Wizard cartoon

Early animated Oz story by the Ted Eshbaugh studio from 1933 and featuring music by Carl Stalling. It was intended to be the first in a series of Oz cartoons but from what I understand it was never released theatrically because of copyright disputes and the project died.

Here's a rare old cartoon from 1931 (or maybe a little earlier) which was produced by Ted Eshbaugh in his small (and ultimately unsuccessful)California-based studio. The original was an early two-strip color cartoon but all existing copies I've seen are only b&w.
Luke the Dog - Aw You Dog!

Here's another tribute video featuring some samples of great performances by one of my favorite silent film era stars and a real pioneer in the industry: Luke the dog. Luke appeared in a number of early silent comedies due to the fact that his owners - Roscoe (Fatty) Arbuckle and his wife Minta Durfee - both worked at the Keystone Studio. The music is "Aw You Dog!" performed by Cab Calloway. Fo...

The two singing policeman being stereotypically gay, followed by quantities of dancing male couples in the jail, was part of the so-called “pansy craze” that got shut down by the crackdown of the strict Hays Code for movies in 1934.

I was glad that the mummy broke out into a really jazzy tune in a Betty Boop voice when she was placed on the stage in front of the skeletal audience.

The year was 1912. He was a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi river. She was a lovely vaudeville dancer on a minstrel show tour. Little did either know it but the adventure of the fantastic flying boat would land the young couple right in the back lot of RKO studios and begin a short but eventful career for both.

I was surprised to see the catch phrase of Superman actually originated Here... "faster than....more powerful than..able to leap.... but if you type this phrase in all that ever comes up is Superman.. Jerry Siegel is given the credit for coining his catchphrase .. when in fact he actually stole it.. perhaps without even paying royalties to Mack Sennett.. I do not know if this phrase originated in this silent film.. or if it is something that Mack picked up from the Wild Wild West days.. but in any case I think this form of plagarism..on the part of Jerry Siegel is evil... I will never watch another Superman show again or read another Superman comic.. until I find out if Mack Sennett was compensated for those words that were stolen...

Did the intertitles come from a later time than the original film? The references to Superman make it seem that way.
